Our Tips

By F LENDERS 09 Aug, 2017
There are many questions that are asked when it comes to lip augmentations, so i have taken 5 of the most commonly asked  questions and going to answer them for you.
1.What is a lip augmentation?
2.What happens during a consultation for lip augmentation?
3.When will i be able to see the results?
4.Are there any common side effects?
5 Are lip fillers reversible?

1. So what is a lip augmentation you ask?
Lip augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that is done in order to intensify the size and shape of your lips. This can be done in two ways, the first way is the most common way, it  is carried out by using non surgical dermal fillers that contain Hyaluronic acid which is injected into the lips. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body which can be used to increase the volume of your lips. The Hyaluronic acid can improve the appearance of the lips by adding shape, structure and volume. The filler usually last around 6 months after this you will need more injections to keep up the desired effect.
The second way is where implants are surgically inserted to improve the volume of the lips permanently under local anesthetic. We do not offer this at Laserlite clinic.

2. What happens during a consultation for lip augmentation?
During your consultation, you will discuss with the clinician what sort of look you desire. The clinician will then assess the shape, size and structure of your lips  to see if you would benefit from the injectable filler and then the clinician will go on to discuss how the procedure is carried out, the risk's and side effects involved. Next you will also be asked to complete a health and medical questionnaire, after all that it will then be time to book your appointment to come in and receive the treatment if you still are happy to do so.

3.When will i be able to see the results?
The results are usually visible immediately once the swelling and possible bruising has subsided. Apply a cold compress gently to help bring down swelling.
4.Are they any common side effects?
The common side effects you will experience after the injections is that the  lips will be quite large and swollen at first but that will go down within a few hours. There is a risk that you may have an allergic reaction to the filler and irritation may occur. In order to help minimize the risks of irritation we suggest; no sun exposure for 72 hours after treatment, no make up for 24 hours. And please do not touch the area for 12 hours.
5. Are injectable lip fillers reversible?
Injectable fillers are temporary and only last around six months , so they disappear in there own time however the fillers can be dissolved to decrease the size of the lip if you are not happy with the result.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post, i hope this has helped.

Obagi professional – c serum is a concentrated serum that has 20% vitamin C, which provides multiple benefits for the complexion.

The serum contains ingredients that neutralize free radicals. Radicals break down collagen and elastin which causes skin damage leading to fine lines, dark spots and wrinkles.

Vitamin C promotes the production of collagen, which helps to plump the skin and reduces the look of wrinkles.

The serum formula is ideal for oily and combination skin types, and absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving the skin oily or greasy! The serum also contains 20% L- ascorbic acid which helps promotes an even skin tone and skin texture.

                                                                            STAY HYDRATED
The human body is roughly made up of about 50 to 65% water and we use up a lot of it in our sweat urine and saliva, so it is important to replace the lost fluids. we should aim to drink about 8 glasses of water every day!. The skin is the bodies biggest organ and requires plenty of care, water helps the skin by clearing the toxins that cause inflammation and blemishes. Water also assists with the transportation of nutrients and oxygen to the skin cells, this helps to prevent dehydration, which believe it or not can lead to premature ageing! If you are not really a fan of plain water why not try popping some ice cubes and a slice of lemon or lime to spice up your glass of water and give it some flavour, the lemon has the added benefit factor of vitamin C and can help aid digestion.

                                                                           SMOTHER ON THE SUNSCREEN
Spending too much time in the sun unprotected can lead to premature ageing, sun spots and increase your risk of skin cancer so it is very important you invest in a good sunscreen with a minimum factor of 20 for the body and factor 50 for the face and neck, also watch out for the expiration date because the longer you have the sunscreen for the less effective it becomes over time. Did you know 90% of wrinkles are caused by sun exposure?!... so plaster on that sunscreen!!!. remember it is easier to prevent the effects of sun exposure than it is to fix and reverse them, so take heed dear readers and wear sunscreen!! we recommend the OBAGI medical sun shield SPF 50, it has a matte finish that is non-comedogenic. This product is suitable for all skin types.

                                                                               INVEST IN SKIN CARE!!!

YES! its really that obvious, having high quality skin care products can really transform your skin, if your looking to produce more collagen look for a moisturizer or serum that contains antioxidants which is the skins main defense line against free radicals e.g. pollution , stress and pentapeptides. collagen is what keeps the skin looking firm. Look for
a sheer formula where the  small molecules can dive deep down into your pores. For best results, apply to freshly washed skin; follow with sunscreen or moisturizer to lock in hydration. We should also be exfoliating  our skin regularly to help keep all the gunk out of our pores such as dead skin, oil and dirt.  To keep pores from getting  bigger as you age, practice safe sun , rays  from the sun breaks down the natural collagen in the face, which can affect pore size as well.
                                                                                                GET TO  BED EARLY!!!!

Did you know sleep deprivation lowers the blood circulation, which is the reason why you look pale and washed out in the mornings. Bedtime is also the best time of day to rejuvenate the skin. The body's cellular renewal systems works while the body is asleep, so this is when you want to equip your skin with as many nutrients and hydrating ingredients as possible to ensure healthy glowing skin!
